The Arabic language programme

Built for students who did not grow up speaking Arabic — starting at the alphabet and ending with reading, conversation and grammar that hold together.

Who it is for

Children from about five years old and adults at any level, including those who can already recite the Quran but do not understand what they are reading. The course is taught one-to-one, so the pace follows the student rather than a class.

The eight stages

StageWhat the student works on
1The letters — shapes, names, sounds, and how they change at the start, middle and end of a word.
2The vowel marks — fathah, kasrah, dammah, sukoon, shaddah and tanween.
3Simple words — reading two and three letter words accurately and without hesitation.
4Longer words and sentences — including the long vowels and connected script.
5Reading from the Mus’haf — applying the reading skill to real Quranic text.
6Vocabulary and dialogue — everyday words, question forms, and short spoken exchanges.
7Foundations of grammar — the noun, the verb and the particle; the sentence and its parts.
8Consolidation and certificate — an assessment covering reading, comprehension and speaking.

Books we teach from

The teacher chooses from these according to the student’s age and level, and sends the material being used so parents can follow along.

Explaining in a language the student understands

A beginner cannot be taught Arabic only in Arabic. Depending on the teacher assigned, explanation is available in English, French, German, Italian or Spanish, and shifts gradually towards Arabic as the student progresses. Tell us the preferred language when you get in touch.

Certificates

A certificate is issued on completion of the programme, recording what was assessed. It is issued by BARAKKA LLC on the basis of our own assessment and carries no external accreditation.
