About Barakka Academy

Who we are

Barakka Academy is the trading name of BARAKKA LLC, a Limited Liability Company registered in the State of Wyoming, United States. We are a private tuition provider: parents and adult students engage us directly, choose their own schedule, and pay for the lessons they receive.

Everything we do is delivered online. A student needs an internet connection and a device — nothing else. Our teachers are based in Egypt and other Arabic-speaking countries, and our students are mainly in Europe, the United Kingdom, North America and the Gulf.

What we teach

Three programmes, all taught one-to-one and live:

• Quran — correct reading from the beginning, then recitation with Tajweed, then memorisation with regular revision. Children usually start with Al-Qaida Al-Nooraniyah or Nour al-Bayan.
• Arabic language — a structured course for non-native speakers, from the alphabet through vocabulary, conversation and introductory grammar.
• Islamic studies — stories of the Prophets and the Companions, Hadith and the manners of the Prophet, creed, Fiqh and Islamic etiquette, with practical lessons such as Wudu and prayer.

Who we teach

• Children, enrolled by a parent or guardian who stays in contact with the teacher throughout.
• Adults, including complete beginners and people returning to study after many years.
• Families, where several members study on a shared schedule.

How we choose teachers

Every teacher is interviewed and assessed on recitation and on teaching ability before being given a student. Teachers are qualified male and female graduates in Quranic and Islamic studies, and several teach in a European language alongside Arabic.

Female teachers are assigned to women and girls, and male teachers to men and boys, according to the family’s preference. Every teacher accepts a written confidentiality obligation covering student information. If a student is not comfortable with a teacher, we reassign them at no cost.

What we are not

We would rather say this plainly than have anyone enrol under a misunderstanding. Barakka Academy is not an accredited school, university or government-recognised educational institution, and we do not award degrees or academic credit. Certificates we issue are issued by BARAKKA LLC on the basis of our own assessment and carry no external accreditation.
